Let”s take a look…

DENIM: John Richmond

You began your artistic journey at a very young age. What memories do you have of your first
contact with music during childhood?
I started when I was about nine years old. I often listened to my sister singing at home, and I began
singing too, almost as a game. I never imagined it would end up occupying such a big space in my life.

Studying singing and piano for over a decade helped shape who you are today as an artist. How
does that musical foundation influence your current choices?

It gave me discipline and respect for the work. Studying is never enough. I started out self-taught, but
then I felt the need for proper technique, the same happened with acting.
My current choices are definitely an evolution of the ones I made in music, which will always be a
part of me.

You describe music as your “first language.” What does it allow you to express that other art forms
might not?
Music and acting say the same things, but through different languages. More than a first language, I
would call it my “first love.”

How would you define your musical identity today, and how has it evolved over the years?
I think it has grown along with me. I only know that it’s something that keeps me grounded, and that
I now experience it in a much more conscious way.

Alongside music, you discovered acting as a second artistic dimension. When did you realize this
path was also part of who you are?
I’d say it was a very natural transition. Acting allowed me to get to know myself more deeply. It
became a way to listen to myself more, with so many stories to tell.

Returning to the screen after Tutti pazzi per amore 4 marked a new phase. What has changed in
you as a performer since then?
I believe that’s when the desire to truly take this work seriously began, no longer as a game. When I
returned to acting, I was more mature and fully aware that it would become an essential part of who
I am and of my future.

Being part of international Amazon Prime projects is a major step. How do you approach this global
exposure?
With great gratitude. I met wonderful people on set, and I believe I’ll carry this experience with me
for the rest of my life. As for the rest, I stay focused on my work and on what I want to keep private.

What attracts you most to the characters you choose to portray?
Their contradictions. I’m drawn to fragile, imperfect yet courageous characters, people searching for
their place, who fall and get back up again. Real-life stories.

You have a very diverse background that includes theater, dance, and performance. How do these
disciplines connect within your work?
They all meet in the body, which, if you listen to it, becomes a guide, not just a tool.

Menswear fashion has increasingly become an extension of your artistic expression. When did you
start developing a conscious interest in fashion?
It developed over time, very naturally. I began to see fashion as a language, not just aesthetics,
another way of telling a story.

Do you see fashion as a tool for personal storytelling? How does it interact with your music and
acting?
Yes, absolutely. Fashion completes the narrative. It dialogues with all art forms where image is both
a personal and public story, and that too evolves over time.

How would you describe your personal style today: more classic, bold, minimalist, or constantly
evolving?
I’d say constantly evolving. It changes depending on what I’m living through and how I feel.
Sometimes it’s essential, other times bolder, it really depends on the day.

Are there any designers, brands, or aesthetic references that inspire you in the world of menswear?
I like clean lines, fairly neutral colors, and pieces that feel lived-in. And I have a deep love for vintage
suits from the 1960s and ’70s 🙂

  • When preparing for an event, a performance, or a role, what role does wardrobe play in shaping
    the character of Michelangelo?
Wardrobe helps me get into the right headspace and feel aligned. When what I’m wearing represents
me, I feel comfortable and everything becomes more natural.
  • Outside of stages and sets, how do you like to spend your free time?
I love spending time with my family and with my sweet niece, who is almost two years old. I try to
protect these moments because they bring me peace and keep me connected to what truly matters
    in life.
  • What kind of music do you listen to when you’re not working on your own projects?
I listen to Daniel Caesar on repeat. I love R&B, but also older music, Billie Holiday is another one of
    my favorite singers.
  • Is there a hobby or interest that few people know about you?
I love baking desserts and sleeping. Definitely my two favorite hobbies 🙂
